Who we are

Girls’ Steering Committee (GSC)

At HOPE for Girls Education Africa, we believe that the most powerful voices in shaping our work are the girls themselves.

The Girls’ Steering Committee (GSC) is a leadership body made up of alumni and current beneficiaries, elected every three years through a nomination process. Representatives are drawn from primary, secondary and tertiary levels of education so that every stage of a girl’s journey is represented.

Seven representatives help ensure that girls’ voices guide programme design, implementation and evaluation. The committee provides a platform for leadership, agency and accountability, empowering girls not only to benefit from programmes but also to help lead and shape the movement to end FGM, early marriage and gender inequality.

Through the committee, alumni and current beneficiaries contribute to proposals, recommend interventions, oversee project activities and provide feedback so that initiatives reflect the realities and aspirations of girls themselves.

Nothing about us without us.
